Millions of Americans go on diets every year in a bid to lose weight, but what most people do not know is that there is a much simpler solution to our obesity epidemic. A recent study found that people who own dogs and take them for walks on a regular basis are much less likely to be overweight or obese. Man’s best friend might be the solution to our nation’s weight loss dilemma.

Owning a dog or cat can also lower the risk of a child developing pet-related allergies, and can also function as an antidote to depression. More than half of all pet owners do report that owning a pet comes with attendant health benefits: higher levels of relaxation, happiness, and well-being are often reported. Taking care of pets can also help kids learn about important life skills.

When it comes time to take care of our pets — an estimated 80 million dogs and 95 million cats — many pet owners are happy to take their furry friends to walk in urgent care centers that can deal with many pet illnesses, give exams, and make recommendations for further treatment. Veterinarians do recommend that pets see the doctor every year.

Almost half of all American households own either a dog or a cat, and some veterinarians actually write prescriptions for therapy animals for patients who could benefit from the companionship and service of therapy pets. Over half of all pet owners who took a recent survey also reported that their pets are as close to them as a family member. Finding quality pet care in the event of illness can be of paramount importance to dedicated pet owners.

A walk-in urgent care booth for pets should be able to assess a pet’s risk for obesity, dental problems, and other pet-related illnesses. Often, tests and vaccinations are reasonably priced, pet owners report, and veterinary services may be provided on weekends or after working hours. Many pet owners are looking for high-quality pet care to ensure happy and healthy pets.
